§ 100. Mr. Bessellasked the Minister of Transport what would be the cost of completing the electrification of the main railway line between Crewe and Glasgow; and whether she will now sanction this expenditure.
§ Mr. John Morris:The Railways Board have put no formal proposal to my right hon. Friend, but I understand that electrification (which has been deferred following devaluation) would cost over £20 million in addition to the associated re-signalling and track rationalisation.
