§ 72.Mr. Wolrige-Gordonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an assurance that the increases in taxation on the motorist, whether private or public, introduced since October, 1964 result in a corresponding increase of Government spending on roads.
§ Mr. Diamond:Taxation collected from motorists—in common with other tax revenue—goes into the general Exchequer and has no direct relationship with expenditure on the roads.
