asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will seek to apply the regulations concerning the size of bedrooms, contained in the Parker Morris Standard, to privately built houses, in addition to local authority houses.

Mr. MacColl:

The Parker Morris space recommendations relate to the whole house or flat, not to individual rooms. They are based on the number of occupants, and so cannot be applied in the private sector where the number of occupants is not known at the time when the house is being built.
