§ Mr. J. H. Osbornasked the Minister of Transport what steps she will take, by legislation or otherwise, to make it obligatory for motorists to use dipped 150W headlights in fog, mist, or when visibility is poor; and what arrangements she has made to remind motorists to use dipped headlights when adverse visibility is forecast in road and weather reports on radio and television.
§ Mr. Carmichael:For the present we intend to continue to rely on the Highway Code's advice, which is supplemented by similar advice put out under arrangements we have with the B.B.C. when poor visibility is forecast or reported. The advice is that headlights should be used in daytime mist or fog.
