Mr. Ford

asked the President of the Board of Trade what study he has made of the effects of the withdrawal of export rebates and Selective Employment Tax premiums upon those manufacturers with long export order books based upon taken over by manufacturing industry in the Newcastle and Newburn employment exchange areas totals 530 for males and 140 for females. The figures for the Tyneside group are 4,800 for males and 3,100 for females.

The Government hope that the arrangements which were outlined in that Answer will minimise any adverse effects from the withdrawal of the export rebate in cases of the kind to which my hon.
