HC Deb 11 December 1967 vol 756 c69W
Mr. Munro

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will include service industries, extensions, and transfers from one development area to another in his special incentives to help areas suffering from colliery closures.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

The special incentives are designed to encourage an influx of new industry into the special development areas and to help incoming firms to overcome the initial problems of setting up new projects in these areas. It would not therefore be appropriate, in general, to extend the incentives to the categories mentioned by the hon. Member nor would it be suitable to assist firms merely to transfer from one part of a development area to another.
