§ Mr. Clark Hutchisonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will consider making an official visit to Canada, along the lines of his recent visit to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, with a view to increasing the exports from Scotland to Canada.
§ Mr. RossNo. My visit to the U.S.S.R. was made at the express invitation of the Soviet Government and, while I had valuable talks with the Russian Minister of Foreign Trade and others about increasing trade links between the two countries, was not primarily connected with trade and industry. I think that Scotland's potential for increasing exports to Canada and other overseas markets, which is so important at this time, can best be developed in other ways.
