§ Mr. MacCollThe effect of fluctuations of the water table on the level of the ground and on buildings in general is continuously under study at the Building Research Station and elsewhere. We are at present considering the evidence available to us about its effect on historic buildings in particular. My right hon. Friend will then decide whether any special studies are necessary.
