HC Deb 21 April 1967 vol 745 c187W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many places in university and colleges of advanced technology engineering courses have been unfilled since October, 1966; and if he will state this figure as a percentage of total places in engineering courses.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

The Fourth Report of the Universities Central Council on Admissions indicated that the number of students in Engineering, Technology and Applied Science admitted to universities in October, 1966, was 405 less than the universities' own estimate (made in May, 1966), of 9,972. As a percentage of that estimate the shortfall was approximately 4.2 per cent.

No information is available on the number of new entrants since October.
