HC Deb 14 April 1967 vol 744 c247W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what he estimates to be the annual running cost of C130 Hercules aircraft.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

It is estimated that the total running costs of the Hercules force at its maximum strength will be about £10 million a year, including spares, repairs and fuel for both aircraft and associated ground equipment and the cost of aircrew and servicing personnel.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the cost of a C130 Hercules; and when he expects to accept delivery of the last of the order of 66 aircraft from the United States of America.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The cost of a Hercules is just over £900,000. It is expected that the last aircraft on order will be delivered to the United Kingdom in June, 1968.
