HC Deb 11 April 1967 vol 744 c163W
68. Sir J. Rodgers

asked the Minister of Labour how many people are now employed in service industries, as defined for Selective Employment Tax purposes, for the last available period compared with the same period before imposition of Selective Employment Tax.

Mr. Hattersley

Employment estimates are made monthly for Index of Production Industries and in June each year for other industries and services.

At June, 1966, the estimated number of employees in employment in industries bearing the Selective Employment Tax, i.e. those not receiving either premium or refund, was 10,105,000.

Estimates for June, 1967, will become available early in 1968.
