The cost of the abolition of Schedule A156W tax was estimated in the Financial Statement for 1963–64 as £35 million in 1963–64 and £48 million for a full year; it is not possible to give a figure for 1965–66. The 1965–66 cost of local authority housing subsidies in Great Britain was nearly £95 million.
