§ Mr. Buchanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is yet in a position to make a statement about the siting of a further nuclear power station at Hunterston.
§ Mr. RossThe South of Scotland Electricity Board has applied for my consent under Section 2 of the Electric Lighting Act, 1909, as amended, to the construction of a 1,200 MW. advanced gas-cooled 183W reactor nuclear generating station at Hunterston. Notice of the application will be published by the Board and, when the statutory procedure is completed and all relevant information is available, I shall decide whether this consent should be granted. Meantime, I have agreed that the Board may issue letters of inquiry to enable the nuclear consortia to prepare the necessary plans, specifications and tenders.
