§ Mr. MacDermotGuidance has been provided by the Governor of the Bank of England. The attention of the Scottish Banks had been drawn to the requests on bank lending addressed to the London Clearing Banks; the Scottish Banks have 117W been asked to observe an appropriate degree of restraint making allowance for the differences between conditions in Scotland and those in the rest of Great Britain.
§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the rate of special deposit which Scottish banks are required to make with the Bank of England; and how this compares with the rate for English banks.
