HC Deb 29 November 1966 vol 737 c89W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the profits made by the State Management Scheme for the year ended 31st March, 1966, and the need for a high level of price holding, he will set an example to the country as a whole by reducing the prices of State products and of the hotels.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

These profits were the lowest for four years. In the face of steadily rising costs, which have not been fully absorbed, prices have been held longer than in the trade generally, but some regard must be had to commercial considerations if State Management is to continue to be viable and to undertake improvements, which are financed entirely out of revenue.
