HC Deb 29 November 1966 vol 737 c87W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware that a large number of dead fish was taken from the Border Esk in Cumberland recently; if he is satisfied that further trouble of this kind will not recur, and that all the angling spots in Cumberland are now clear; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hoy

The outbreak of disease in the Border Esk and in other Cumberland rivers is continuing. Control measures to limit the spread of the disease were immediately taken and this action is continuing, but it is not possible to make any prediction as to the future course of the disease.
