HC Deb 24 November 1966 vol 736 c343W
29. Mr. Molloy

asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what steps he intends to take during the period of severe restraint to restrain prices and so prevent an undue burden being placed on wage and salary earners.

Mr. M. Stewart

I would refer my hon. Friend to the prices section of the White Paper Prices and Incomes Standstill: Period of Severe Restraint (Cmnd. 3150) published on 22nd November.

As in the standstill period, the Government will examine rigorously any proposals for price increases against the criteria of this White Paper. The statutory powers under Part IV of the Prices and Incomes Act will remain in force.
