Mr. Eldon Griffithsasked the Minister of Transport to what extent capital will be made available by the Government in each of the next five years to meet the needs of the railways for the replacement of obsolete rolling stock, the continued modernisation of track and signalling and other necessary investment, respectively.
§ Mr. John MorrisI would refer the hon. Member to the Answer given to the hon. Member for Glasgow, Hillhead (Mr. Galbraith) on 8th November. Of the £102 million investment allocation for 1967, the Railways Board estimates that about £30 million will be spent on the renewal and modernisation of track and signalling and £43 million on other necessary investment.
