§ Mr. Biffenasked the Minister of Technology what proposals he has for a statistical definition of microelectronics conscistent with the recommendations of paragraph 149 of the report of the Economic Development Committee for Electronics; and what will be the estimated cost of providing such information.
§ Mr. BennProposals for a statistical definition of integrated circuitry, which includes microelectronics, are at present168W under discussion with the trade associations concerned, prior to incorporation in the revised edition of the Standard Industrial Classification currently in preparation. When agreement has been reached on these proposals, this item will be included in the normal statistical inquiries of the electronics industry and no significant additional cost to Government or industry is anticipated.
