§ Mr. BennTable 1–4 in Appendix 1 of the report of the Economic Development Committee for Electronics were prepared by the E.D.C. from statistics collected by the Ministry of Aviation and the General Post Office, the sponsoring Departments for the electronics industry in the year covered by these tables. The statistics subsequently collected by the Ministry of Technology have a wider coverage and content and are not, therefore, strictly comparable with those in the E.D.C. report. Table 1 below gives the same information as table 1 of the E.D.C. report on this wider coverage. Table 2 below gives similar information to tables 2 and 3, which largely duplicate one another. Because of the non-comparability of the 1965 statistics with those for earlier years it is not possible to provide indices for 1965 for the items contained in table 4 of the E.D.C. report.
