§ 96. Mr. Dobsonasked the Minister of Transport whether she will introduce legislation to amend the Transport Act 1962 to give her the same powers with regard to the closure of British Railways freight depots as she has over the closure of passenger stations, in order to halt the curtailment of public service that is taking place in the field of freight deliveries.
§ Mrs. CastleI have no evidence to suggest that in general the freight rationalisation policy of the Railways Board has led to unjustifiable curtailment of the freight services available to the public.
