HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 cc128-9W
Mr. Roebuck

asked the Minister of Health if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the establishment and actual numbers of National Health Service nursing staff at each of the geriatric and infectious disease hospitals taking patients from the constituency of the hon. Member for Harrow, East, on September 12th, 1966, the number of agency nurses employed on that date, and the rates of pay of the agency and National Health Service nurses.

Mr. Loughlin

It is not my Department's practice to fix nursing staff establishments but the following table shows the Regional Hospital Board's assessment of nursing staff required compared with the numbers in post.

Mr. Roebuck

asked the Minister of Health what was the outcome of his Department's consultations with the regional hospital board following inquiries by the hon. Member for Harrow, East, about the number of nurses working in geriatric and infectious disease hospitals taking patients from the hon. Member's constituency.

Mr. Loughlin

The Board will continue to encourage the Hospital Management Committee to take all practicable steps to improve the position.
