§ Mr. Peter Walker
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give the 127W total revenue received in respect of motor fuel tax, motor vehicle licence duties, and motor vehicle Purchase Tax, respectively, for each of the 12-month periods ending 30th September, 1964, 1965 and 1966.
§ Mr. MacDermot
The information is as follows:
Revenue in 12 months ended: 30.9.64 30.9.65 30.9.66 £m. £m. £m. Duties on motor fuel 520 656 710 Motor vehicle licence duties 182 215 258 Purchase Tax on motor vehicles 141 156 155
The receipts from the motor vehicle licence duties relate to Great Britain, these duties being a transferred tax in Northern Ireland. The other figures relate to the United Kingdom. The revenue from motor fuel is estimated, since the hydrocarbon oil duties apply also to oil used otherwise than as motor fuel.
