§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the growing practice of owners of Tippy and rubble lorries of using false number plates, and refusing to license these vehicles when warned by the police; and what action he has taken or proposes to take to see that when the police attempt to enforce the law these drivers are not allowed to ignore police instructions.
§ Mr. TaverneIt would be for the chief officer of police to decide what action to take on any evidence put before230W him about the use of particular vehicles with false number plates, and the Commissioner will investigate any cases arising in the Metropolitan Police District about which my hon. Friend may provide details.
