HC Deb 09 May 1966 vol 728 cc31-2W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether details of the way in which the £75,000 grant for tourist research, announced by him on

in 1965; and what proportion of each category was cleared up.

Mr. Ross

The following is the information:

22nd July, is expended will be laid before the House; and when, and in what form, this will be done.

Mr. Ross

In accordance with the normal conditions applying to a grant-in-aid of this kind the expenditure will not be accounted for in detail to Parliament, but the relative books and accounts wil be open to inspection by the Comptroller and Auditor General.

I expect, however, that the Scottish Tourist Board will itself announce the initiation of projects, as appropriate. The Chairman made the first such announcement on 4th May.
