§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the cost to the Exchequer if all single taxpayers over the age of 75 years, who had previously paid tax as married persons, continued to be treated for tax purposes as married persons.
§ Mr. MacDermotIf all single persons over 75 years of age who had ever been married were entitled to the higher personal allowance the cost might be of the order of £10 million in a full year.
