§ 72. Mr. Gwilym Robertsasked the Minister of Transport if she will ensure that before legislation is introduced on advance warning triangles, exhaustive research is carried out into the use of manual and automatic electrical devices fitted into vehicles.
§ Mrs. CastleThe use of advance warning triangles has been recommended internationally. I propose shortly to make regulations under the Road Traffic Act, 1962, permitting their use. I have no power to make them compulsory.
I have also recommended that vehicles should be fitted with a device to enable all the direction indicator lights to flash simultaneously in an emergency, and am considering whether such a device should be made compulsory.
