§ 21. Mr. Robert Cookeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce legislation to enable any person of good character with suitable premises to obtain a licence for the sale of intoxicating liquor when the liquor sales are predominantly in con junction with the sale of foodstuffs and the liquors consist mainly of imported wines not readily available elsewhere in the same licensing district.
§ Mr. George ThomasAt present applications can be made for off licences in respect of food shops. My right hon. Friend is not convinced that it would be right to remove the discretion of the licensing authority to grant or refuse such licences in the case of a particular class of applicant.
