§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Minister of Labour how many jobs have been lost, and how many gained, in Scotland and Fife, respectively, in each of the last 10 years; and how many were for males and for females, respectively.
§ Mr. ThorntonThe only comprehensive figures showing changes in the number of jobs are based on comparisons of the estimated number of employees in employment at the mid-year counts. The following table gives the number of employees in employment, males and females, respectively, in Scotland and the net change for the years 1955 to 1964. The 1965 figures are not yet available.
I regret that similar information is not readily available for Fife and is given in the table for the years 1955 and 1964 only.
