Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs whether the subject of rates levied by local authorities falls within the ambit of the National Board for Prices and Incomes; and to what extent wages and salaries charged in the rates so levied are subject to review by the Board.
§ Mr. AlbuI would refer the hon. Member to the Answer my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member for Harborough (Mr. Farr) on 25th November, 1965. The wages and salaries paid by local authorities fall within the scope of472W prices and incomes policy, and may be referred to the Board if the Government think that it is in the national interest to do so.
