§ Mr. John MorrisThe classification of individual roads are adjusted on 1st April each year on the specific application of local highway authorities. My right hon. Friend's proposals for revising the present system of classification for grant purposes were outlined by my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Housing and Local Government in the debate on the Second Reading of the Local Government Bill on 14th June. (OFFICIAL REPORT, C 1276.) In consultation with local highway authorities, she is now carrying out a comprehensive review of

She hopes to be able to inform highway authorities of her decisions well before that date. My right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State, is carrying out a similar review of highways in Wales.
