asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when the United Kingdom will sign and ratify the United Nations Convention on the elimination of racial discrimination.

The question of signature and ratification of this Convention by the United Kingdom is under active consideration. It is a complicated matter. I hope to be in a position to announce our decision later in the year.
