§ 61 and 62. Mr. S. O. Daviesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he is aware of the confusion caused by his instruction that the probation service of Merthyr Tydfil be combined with the probation service of Glamorgan; and if he will take steps to prevent the destruction of the probation service of Merthyr Tydfil.
(2) if he is aware that different and contradictory explanations have been given by different divisions of his Department respecting the attempt to combine the probation services of Merthyr Tydfil and Glamorgan; and if he will make the necessary inquiries into this.
§ Miss BaconMy right hon. Friend is not aware of any such confusion, and he does not consider that further inquiry is necessary. The combining order was made after very full consideration of all the circumstances and will, I am sure, prove of benefit to the probation service in the new area.
