asked the Minister of Labour what estimate he has made as to the effect of the proposed payroll tax on employment in the slate industry in Wales.

As announced by my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 25th May, the extractive industries as a whole are to receive refund of the tax. This will include the slate industry in Wales.
