Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give details of the local authority capital schemes which will be postponed in consequence of the Government's financial restrictions.

Mr. Ross

This will be decided in the light of the schemes submitted. Many local authorities will no doubt themselves decide to defer certain projects. For the rest I intend to scrutinise all proposals with a view to deferring the least essential.
