HC Deb 28 July 1966 vol 732 c323W
71. Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the visible trade deficit with Canada in 1965; and what steps have been taken to improve the position.

Mr. Jay

Imports from Canada (c.i.f.) exceeded exports and re-exports to Canada (f.o.b.) by £251 million in 1965. With the help of the Committee for Exports to Canada, we are engaged in continuous efforts to improve the position; and the deficit this year to date has been lower.
