Gilmourasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what calculations he has had made within the Health Service in Scotland to ascertain the extra 259W costs which will arise from the Selective Employment Tax; and what action he plans to take to reimburse the hospital boards For any rise in their costs.
§ Mr. MillanIt has been estimated that the extra cost of the Selective Employment Tax for staff directly employed by Hospital Boards, Executive Councils, etc., in Scotland will be about £1.7 million in 1966–67 and £3 million in a full year. The tax paid in respect of such staff will be covered by supplementary allocations to these bodies.
