HC Deb 25 July 1966 vol 732 cc185-6W
61. Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action is being taken to brief British embassies and overseas information services on the country's economic situation.

Mrs. White

Our representatives in foreign and Commonwealth countries, receive, as rapidly as possible, texts of Ministerial statements and Parliamentary exchanges and also a constant flow of background material, to enable them to expound the Government's policies authoritatively at any time. For example, my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister's statement of 20th July was transmitted immediately in full to many of our posts; by the following morning texts or summaries had been sent to ninety-seven posts.
