§ 43. Sir E. Boyle
asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how the number of postgraduate awards to be made in 1966–67 by the Social Science Research Council compares with the numbers recommended by the Heyworth Committee on Social Studies.
§ Mr. Crosland
Assuming that the Social Science Research Council would operate in 1965–66, the Heyworth Committee recommended up to 400 awards for that year, with a further unspecified increase in 1966–67. The Council is offering 386 postgraduate studentships in this, its first, year. This compares with 234 in 1965–66.
