HC Deb 21 July 1966 vol 732 cc142-3W
Mr. Gregory

asked the Minister of Technology whether he is satisfied that the structure and policy of the British Nuclear Export Executive and its present relationship with the nuclear power industry are sufficiently effective to tender for overseas projects; and what action he proposes to take to promote the interests of the consortium most suited, in terms of work load, price and establishment in the countries concerned, to achieve essential export sales.

Mr. Benn

The British Nuclear Export Executive (B.N.X.) will not itself tender for overseas projects, but departments will give all the support they can to the Consortium considered to be the most suitable to undertake a particular project. The Executive, backed as it is by the resources of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and the three Consortia should quickly be able to get into its stride and to arrange for suitable and successful tendering.
