§ Mr. Weatherillasked the Minister of Labour what amount of money the Engineering Industry Training Board propose to issue in grants for the financial years 1965–66, and 1966–67 to cover first-year training ; and what proportion of the Board's total income this represents.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsNo specific grants w,11 be paid by the Board in the grant year ending 31st August, 1966 in respect of first year off-the-job training,112W which will be taken into account in the assessment for general grant of a firm's training arrangements as a whole.
Specific grants for approved first year off-the-job training will be payable in the grant year ending 31st August, 1967. The Board estimates that the cost of these grants in that year may be about seven and a half million pounds, which would represent approximately 10 per cent. of the Board's annual income at the present rate of levy.
