HC Deb 19 July 1966 vol 732 cc49-50W
Mr. Richard

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is satisfied that in urgent cases court orders for possession can be obtained without delay under the present law ; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. MacColl

Under the existing arrangements there does not seem any reason to suppose that any landlord who really needs to get possession urgently will be delayed by the court. I understand that in the second quarter of this year the average time taken between the issue of summons and the hearing was 15 days where the expedited procedure was used and 32 days where it was not. Landlords have so far made very little use of the expedited procedure.
