HC Deb 19 July 1966 vol 732 c51W
76. Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he is aware that many United Kingdom holders of Indian pensions have received no pension since the devaluation of the rupee ; and what representations he is making to the Government of India on their behalf.

Mr. Bottomley

I am informed that following the devaluation of the rupee, the Office of the High Commissioner for India informed pensioners that there would he some delay in the issue of pensions, pending instructions from the Government of India. Our Acting High Commissioner in New Delhi has approached the Government of India and has been assured that the necessary instructions have now been issued for payments to be resumed immediately.
