asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the total tax paid by the companies listed in Schedule 1 to the Iron and Steel Bill during the five years ended April 1965.

It is not the practice to give figures about narrow groups of taxpayers but the tax assessed on the iron and steel industry as a whole was as follows:—
