HC Deb 18 July 1966 vol 732 cc8-9W
Mr. Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many people teaching full-time in universities have served on selection boards for the Foreign Service in each of the last 10 years; and how many of these were teaching at Oxford and Cambridge, at London, and at other universities, respectively.

Mr. George Thomson

The figures given by my right hon. Friend the Financial Secretary on 14th July, in answer to my hon. Friend's similar Question about the Home Civil Service apply equally to the Diplomatic Service since the same academic members of the Selection Boards interview Administrative Class candidates for both Services.

Full time teachers in universities are not asked to serve on Selection or Interview Boards for candidates for Clerical and Executive posts in the Diplomatic Service.
