Friend's similar Question about the Home Civil Service apply equally to the Diplomatic Service since the same academic members of the Selection Boards interview Administrative Class candidates for both Services.
Full time teachers in universities are not asked to serve on Selection or Interview Boards for candidates for Clerical and Executive posts in the Diplomatic Service.
