§ Mr. Berryasked the Minister of Transport whether she will introduce legislation to amend the Highways Acts to permit the erection of signs on suitable roads reminding drivers about the 30 miles per hour speed limit.
§ Mr. John MorrisNo. The urban 30 m.p.h. speed limit should continue to be indicated by the presence of a system of street lighting. If repeated 30 m.p.h. signs were permitted they would have to be used throughout the country in all urban areas. This would be a great expense and my right hon. Friend does not think it would be justified.
