asked the Minister of Labour what is the number of workers in Scotland to whom redundancy payment has been made since the Act came into force; what was the total of the payments made; and how the proportion of the insured working population in Scotland made redundant during this time compares with redundancies in England and Wales.

Up to 24th June, the number of workers receiving payments was 5,675 representing about 0.26 per cent. of the insured population in Scotland. The comparable percentage for England and Wales was 0.22 per cent. The total of payments made in Scotland was £1,164,821.
