HC Deb 04 July 1966 vol 731 cc22-3W
Earl of Dalkeith

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what special studies he has made of the value of hydrofoil craft for military purposes; and whether he will publish a report.

Mr. J. P. W. Mallalieu

The use of hydrofoil craft for military purposes has been considered from time to time and developments in the United States of America and Canada, who have expensive programmes directed to producing anti-submarine hydrofoil craft, have been closely watched.

No United Kingdom military requirement for hydrofoil craft is, however, foreseen.
