§ Captain Kerbyasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give the cost of transporting fuel and stores to Gan for Her Majesty's Forces there during the past year; and how many tankers and other ships were required.
Mr. MilianThe cost in 1965 was about £110,000 and the cargo was carried in 19 ships and 10 tankers. In addition three Royal Fleet Auxiliary tankers were diverted to replenish Royal Navy fuel stocks off the Island, and some urgent air freight was delivered by Royal Air Force Transport Command aircraft flying on the United Kingdom to Singapore route via Gan.
