§ 94. Brigadier Clarkeasked the President of the Board of Trade how much it will cost in hard currency to purchase tobacco to replace the tobacco previously bought from Rhodesia by the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. MasonIf it becomes necessary to replace our Rhodesian tobacco imports from other sources, the additional cost would be relatively small. From the point of view of our balance of payments a mere change of source makes no difference.
§ Brigadier Clarkeasked the President of the Board of Trade what increase he estimates there will be in the cost of cigarettes and pipe tobacco as a result of sanctions on Rhodesian tobacco.
§ Mr. MasonI would hope that the additional cost of replacing Rhodesian tobacco would not be large enough to affect the price of cigarettes or pipe tobacco.
